Black Pearl Creations’ First Review!
In August of this year, I was already thinking about my winter designs. In the midst of this, I needed someone to review my Iola sweater. Yeah, pictures are nice and everything but you can’t feel and see quality on a computer monitor! So I sent out a Tweet on Twitter and received a few responses. One from Anna of Shoe Smitten and the other from The Fungke Blak Chik (who I am sure is tired of waiting for her sweater but I am working on it. Let’s just say the sheep and the dye had some serious issues!) But Anna received her sweater yesterday and wrote an honest, overall positive review. Check it out here. And of course, she had the right shoes to go with it!
And I am working on the other sweater before I am cursed up one side and down the other!
New Colors in Iola!
I’ve just posted new color combinations for the Iola sweater! Take a peek and please, give me your feedback!
Black Pearl Creations’ First Video!
Progress of Mitred Square Throw
Hand crocheted from sock yarn (!) this throw is not too heavy, not too light, machine washable and oh so yummy feeling and looking! Perfect for spicing up the patio or living room!
2008 Summer Designs
Here is a hand crocheted halter top. I love the color on this and looks great on any skin tone! The color is actually called “Waterfall” if my memory serves me correctly.
Stripes! Yikes!
Ok, another confession: I am in love with stripes. Nautical, symetrical and not. All colors, wide and skinny. I’ve been thinking about making stripes THE final signature look for Black Pearl Creations. Yes, I know, not everyone can wear stripes or look good in them but did everyone look good in Jordache jeans when those came out years ago? (I’m showing my age here). Please let me know of what you think about STRIPES!
First Blog Post in WordPress – Test
I am trying to figure out how to use this blog so I am going to post a couple of pictures and see what happens.
Now I have to figure how to replace the old blog with this one. And where can I find those progress widgets for my projects??
11/15/07 Fall Winter Collection
The Studio Open House is almost here. I am in “no-sleep” mode and I am not happy. I looked over the Fall/Winter Collection this morning (probably not a good idea after 3 hours of sleep) and I am feeling a bit discontent. Deep down, I KNOW my %#&@$! is good. I KNOW I have a good sense of style, can separate trends from true style and I can crochet my hands off! But…I’m not happy. I’ll describe what is in the Collection – which is good for those not able to come to the open house – and you tell me what you think…
Evening Gown – A slim fitting gown made from a subtle glittery fabric. The beautiful train touches the floor and is unique without being dramatic. Long earrings, extra mascara, up-do and WOW them!
Fedora – Unisex hat made from chenille, wool or other fibers. Made in neutral colors to match most raincoats.
Bohemian Top – These tops have a flattering shape, bell sleeves and hit mid-hip. These are made in any fiber from cotton to mohair. The front lace tie or attached motif add an additional touch of nostalgia. Think black pants, boots, chunky earrings and a touch of lip gloss.
Diagonal V Jacket – Made with any multi-striping fiber, this sweater is perfect for those looking to be noticed. Shaped with raglan sleeves, and a V shape in the front and back, this sweater is versatile. Did I mention the slight A shaping? This is a must see! Skinny jeans, pumps, or use it as a blazer for work.
Contemporary Wrap- Fringe and the illusion of cables add to the flowiness (is that a word?) of this wrap. Curly afro, big sunglasses, high heeled boots – need I say any more?
Newsboy Caps – Made in cotton, acrylic or other animal fibers. Traditional newsboy cap with cables added to bring it up to date.
And of course, I always have scarves made from multiple fibers. Many are one of a kind.

I welcome your comments.
